Competition or Jealousy?

I think we've all been guilty of doing this. We see somebody else getting a better job, a better car, or a better lifestyle, even the perfect family.

GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE, BECAUSE IT IS WATERED

We look at it and think I don't have what I want. Now this is where the difference comes.

Looking at things and aspiring from them is good. But looking at the things and getting jealous about it.

  • Getting negative,

  • getting more angry,

  • getting upset,

  • letting it affect your day.

  • Getting it, makes you negative.

WHAT IS YOUR REACTION?

These are the two typical reactions that happen. Wishing well is easier said than done. But competitiveness is the best way to react. When you see somebody doing better, instead of getting angry or getting emotional about it. If you aspire for those things yourself, work harder, realize it over. If they can do that, I can achieve it too, so you are definitely going to be better off.

  • So what are you going to choose today?

  • Being competitive or aiming for a better lifestyle.

  • Or get jealous and upset.

VICE PRESIDENT IN A FEW YEARS...WHAAATT!

I had an experience where I saw a co-worker who I had trained in my corporate days start in a company at the entry level and then absolutely grow into the Vice President role within a few years. I was shocked, confused and really annoyed. How can this be possible? Here we are, all slogging it and taking years to be able to grow in our current roles and this person just did it in a few  years. So naturally I did what everyone does, I ranted to my best friend lol. I went on and on about how unfair it was, how could that happen and what was the reason for that.

MY EGO COULDN'T HANDLE IT

Then I realised that most of the issue was not even the fact that this person became a Vice President. It was more about  the fact that my ego was hurt. I wanted to feel that I was the only one who could grow and do well at that moment. It is absolutely human to feel this way. Then I met this person later on in life and congratulated her and said it was an amazing achievement, excluding the fact that I was still shocked. This person actually turned to me and said, “One of the reasons I have been able to achieve this is because you are one of the best trainers who motivated me to aim higher.”

TURNING POINT

I stood there shocked. She had just told me that I had made the difference. I felt like a fool and I smiled and thanked her from the bottom of my life.

LESSON - THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMEONE DOING BETTER THAN YOU

Next time you look at someone who's making you feel insecure, or jealous or annoyed. However, there's always going to be someone who's doing better than you, the best thing you can do is either learn from them and do better for you. If you worry about them, it's just going to cause you more harm. So live your life and wish people well. You will see your world change :) It will become positive.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS I DID

  • Start wishing well for people.

  • It's easy to be jealous, or negative or just not want to do the right things.

  • The moment I decided to push myself past the negative and started wishing well for people.

  • Choosing to accept that there's always going to be someone doing something better,

  • I would use it as a lesson and decide to learn from them

  • It helped me to grow and do better in life.

  • I attribute all my learning to amazing leaders and people I have met in my life t

  • It resulted in me achieving far more than I ever imagined.

  • People are teachers, so choose wisely who you want to learn from. :)
